Three (3) innovations from the University of Lagos emerged tops at the recently concluded Information Communication Technology and Telecommunication (ICTEL) Expo.
Being the 9th in its series, 2 out of the 5 innovations shortlisted for participation at the 2-day event through the Innovation and Technology Management Office, University of Lagos were pitched before an array of ICT experts who formed the panel of Judges at the Expo.
PROSE Care also known as Oncopadi emerged as the second overall best start-up innovation. After pitching, the digital symptom monitoring tool won a prize of 6-month access to a co-workspace.
PROSE Care, an innovation of Dr. Omolola Salako, is a digital innovation designed to assist in the remote management of symptoms related to cancer treatment. The application through its communication systems, collects and transmits data about patients’ symptoms, treatment progress and overall health to the cancer care team.
A Virtual Camp Mobile Application (also known as Student Paddy) was also pitched at the event. A creation of Mr. Nnaemeka Praise Ifeakor, the Student Paddy is meant to empower university students in Africa and beyond by providing them with necessary skills, experience and credentials to transition successfully into their early careers.
Meanwhile, a Home Automation Device exhibited by the Jun Zhe members from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Hub (NITHub) of the University of Lagos caught the immediate attention and interest of Kawai Technologies. Logistic arrangements were made and the first meeting with the Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O.) of Kawai Technologies took place at the Company’s office on Victoria Island, Lagos, where discussions centred on possible ways of partnership.
